The British première of
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Act One of a new musical by Rupert Holmes
Directed and staged by Tim Heath and Barry Stewart
Act One is a story in its own right, taking us through the entire Victorian
half of Wildes only novel. This will be a concert performance, with
a cast to be announced.
Rupert Holmes is the author-composer of Broadway and West End hit The
Mystery of Edwin Drood, winner of five Tony awards (including Best
Musical, Best Book and Best Score). Holmess Broadway thrillers have
also won him two Edgar awards from the Mystery Writers of America. His
songs are regularly performed by some of the worlds biggest-selling
artists, such as Barbra Streisand, Cleo Laine, Betty Buckley and Patti
LuPone, who has already recorded one of the songs from this new work.
The British Library is proud to present this world première first
act.
